The Giraffes are the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grade girls! Ms. Carly is their counselor and this is her fourth year here at Sanford. Ms. Carly graduated from Neumann University with a degree in English education. She just finished her first year teaching English at Concord High School and will be a special education teacher there next year. The Giraffes love to do arts and crafts with Ms. Linda, dance with Ms. Rachel and play cards in the game room!
The Zebras are the second and third grade girls. Ms. Jenn graduated from Villanova with a degree in Biology. She is a teacher at Tower Hill School and mother of two children, Anthony and Ava. She’s also Dave’s daughter! Ms. Jenn’s girls love playing games at the pool and making friendship bracelets!
The first grade girls are the Gazelles this year. This is Ms. Meghan’s fourth year here at camp and she is excited to be the girls’ counselor! She graduated from Villanova University with degrees in Education and Sociology. Ms. Meghan just finished her third year teaching 5th grade in the North Penn School district. The Gazelles love to learn new routines in dance class!
The Lion Cubs are our campers entering Kindergarten. Ms. Nicole is their counselor
and this is her fourth year here as a counselor at Sanford. In past years, she has helped out with aftercare. Ms. Nicole graduated from The University of Delaware with a degree in early childhood education. She just finished her second year teaching pre-school at Palmer Elementary school. Ms. Nicole’s junior counselor this summer is Kala Nuss, who is a junior at the University of Delaware. The Lion Cubs love to play on the playground and color in art.
The Meer Pups are the Pre-K campers this summer. Ms. Lori is their counselor and this is her sixth year with the camp. She is a third grade teacher at IHM. This is her fifth year with the Pre-K and Ms. Lori is loving every second of it! Her junior counselors this summer are Casey and Claire. The Meer Pups love to take swim lessons and play in the pool!
The Wildebeests are the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys. Mr. Sean is glad to be back for his sixth year as their counselor. Sean or “Mr. Tischler” is a teacher at Salesianum and coaches varsity lacrosse at Kennett High School. This groups’ favorite thing to do at camp is play capture the flag.
The Elephants are the fourth and fifth grade boys. Mr. Jeff is their counselor. He is a graduate of the College of Holy Cross. Jeff is a social studies teacher at Downingtown West High School. He also works on team building and self-help exercises. Jeff organized an exchange program with students in Denmark! He also enjoys coaching soccer and track & field.
The first grade boys are the Cheetahs! John is the Cheetahs counselor. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in physical education. He has five daughters of his own and in his spare time loves to work with wood. John also helps out with Sanford after care!

The Rhinos are the second and third grade boys and their counselor is Mr. Billy. This is his third year as a camp counselor. He graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Elementary Education. Mr. Billy enjoys playing lacrosse and basketball.!
The Flamingos are the fourth and fifth grade girls. This is Ms. Courtney’s first year as a camp counselor. She is a graduate of West Chester University and teaches at West Chester Friends. Courtney is interested in history and loves interacting with kids. She can even name all the presidents!
